As the song goes:

Winter now is over!
The snow has all been snowed!
Spring is near, which starts a year
With Frog and Toad!

MARCH 15, 2010, VANCOUVER, BC – Following hot on the heels of two sold‐out runs of Seussical, Carousel Theatre is thrilled to bring another children’s favourite to life with the well‐loved A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD at the Waterfront Theatre April 17 to May 8, 2010. This enchanting musical is based on the beloved children’s stories by Arnold Lobel with book and lyrics by Willie Reale and music by Robert Reale.

A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD follows best friends Frog and Toad on their adventures through four fun‐filled seasons. Cheerful Frog and Grumpy Toad leap to life, along with the rest of their animal friends, for kite‐flying, sled‐racing and cookie‐munching. Waking from hibernation in the spring, these two great friends proceed to plant gardens, swim in the summer, rake leaves in the fall, and learn life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.

Director CAROLE HIGGINS, Artistic Director of Carousel Theatre for Young People, is excited to direct this wonderful story of friendship, saying “Frog and Toad reminds us all of the true happiness friendship brings to us and how the simplest of things become the most beautiful things. This musical will bring to life these colourful characters with its jazz and ragtime inspired music. Todd Talbot and Allan Zinyk have inhabited this whimsical world of Frog and Toad and created a friendship that will resonate with children of all ages. These books have had such an impact on children’s lives and this play is a wonderful story on the power of friendship.”

The talented cast includes TODD TALBOT as Frog and ALLAN ZINYK as Toad, featuring DARREN BURKETT, JANET GIGLIOTTI and KAYLEE HARWOOD. A celebration of friendship, Carousel Theatre’s production will feature the work of an award‐winning creative team: Director CAROLE HIGGINS, Musical Director GORDON ROBERTS, Choreographer MELISSA YOUNG, Set Designer and Props HEIDI WILKINSON, Costume Designer YULIA SHTERN, and Lighting Designer ERECA HASSELL. Stage Management is by MARCELLA HELMER, with Apprentice Stage Manager HEIDI QUICKE. The team also includes Technical Director AL FRISK, Head of Wardrobe HEATHER WESTERGARD and Running Crew STEPHANIE KONG.
