A busy day exploring BUSYTOWN at the Vancouver Public Library!

          January 13th, 2014

It was a dreary, rainy, Saturday afternoon but instead of being bored at home with nothing to do, we had our FIRST EVER story time and activity day at the Vancouver Public Library!  Surrounded by books, eager young faces and silly props, we spent an enjoyable afternoon learning how it takes everyone working together to create a busy, happy world!

vpl3Carousel Theatre for Young People and Librarian Linda Lines were thrilled to be joined by 91 excited young people and their families at this event. We had so much fun exploring what people do all day in Richard Scarry’s Busytown.

Thank you to all the young people who helped us deliver a very important birthday card to Grandma Bear, baked a beautiful birthday cake with us (and reminded us of all the ingredients we forgot to include…!) and joined Lowly Worm at his visit to Doctor Lion and Nurse Nellie! We had a great time learning that the postman delivers the letters, the firemen and firewomen put out the fires, and doctors and nurses make everyone feel better.

After story time, we had so much fun creating Busytown buttons. Thank you for taking time out of your own busy lives to join us! A charming musical adaptation of  BUSYTOWN is coming to Carousel Theatre for Young People March 1 – 30, 2014. Join all your favourite characters, including Huckle Cat, Lowly Worm and Betsy Bear, as they sing and dance the busy day away! For tickets or more information, call our box office at 604.685.6217.

Enjoyed your afternoon with CTYP and VPL? Join us March 27, 2014 for Wondrous Tales of Old Japan!
