Auditions for James and the Giant Peach
Carousel Theatre for Young People invites submissions from professional adult actors for auditions for the new musical James and the Giant Peach (music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, book by Timothy Allen McDonald).
Contract dates are November 10, 2014 – January 4, 2015

We are seeking strong triple-threat musical theatre performers who have a passion for Theatre for Young Audiences. Puppetry is an asset. At this time we are casting the following characters:
Spiker– James’ nasty aunt. Female role.
Sponge– James’ other nasty Aunt. Female role.
Grasshopper– A tall, fatherly creature (special skill: plays the fiddle). Male role.
Centipede– a boisterous creature with a good heart. Male role.
Lady Bug– A compassionate, ladylike creature. Female role.
Spider – A warm, acrobatic-like creature. Female role.
Earthworm– A very anxious, neurotic creature. Male role.
*All actors except James play multiple roles.
Auditions for the role of James (to be played by a child actor) will occur at a later date.
Actors selected for an audition will be asked to prepare two contrasting songs from the new musical theatre repertoire (Pasek & Paul, Joe Iconis, Adam Gwon, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, Salzman & Cunningham, etc.), as well as participate in a dance call.

No phone calls please. Those selected for an audition will be contacted with specifics. We regret that due to the high volume of interest, we will not be able to audition all artists who submit. Video submissions will not be accepted. CAEA members will be scheduled first for auditions. Auditions will be held on Friday, June 27th in Vancouver.
Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under a CTA contract, company category TYA. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
