Carousel Theatre is in the News!

September 24th, 2009

Hi folks! For those of you that missed it, here is the news reel that features our fearless leader Carole Higgins (Artistic and Managing Director for Carousel Theatre)- chatting about the recent cuts to arts funding in the province of BC.

Thanks to Simon Ogden from The Next Stage with this lovely shout out  on his blog- The Next Stage: ” It drives me mental that they’re messing with Carousel.”

Carole Takes Aim at Spending Cuts!

“These are challenging economic times for all of us. Currently, so many hard-working charities across British Columbia are in crisis due to unprecedented cuts to the Direct Access Program through the BC Gaming Commission and the BC Arts Council. We have been receiving so many calls from you, our audiences asking how you can help. We are so grateful for your support, and invite you to let your MLA know how much you value arts and culture in your lives, and the lives of the young people you know. Together, we can all make a difference in ensuring that arts and culture remain an important part of our community.”

So- we’d like to hear your voice.

We would love to hear from you about your Carousel Theatre visit: was it is your child’s first play, did you bring your entire family because you used to read these stories together, or did you see your first play with Carousel Theatre and are now sharing it with your own brood?

Why did you take the time today to share the arts with your child? Why is it important to your family? If you have ever encouraged your child to draw, sing, dance, play, imagine or create- then please let us know. Just send us a quick note to We love hearing your stories. And if the fabulous artists in your family want to send us a picture or letter- we’d love to share it with the world.
