TabsDo You Like My Hat?

In our play, Hattie tries on many, many hats hoping to find one that M.C. Dog will like. Finally, she wears the biggest, most beautiful hat of all and the dogs love it so much they celebrate.  With this activity, children (and their adults!) get a chance to decorate their own hats and have a party. Click here for detailed instructions.

Bring your hats with you on the day of the show and share photos with us (@carouseltheatre) on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!

Treats for Dog Friends

Do you know a dog who would enjoy a tasty Cheesy Treat? Here is a simple recipe from our friends at the BC SPCA for kids and adults to make together. Remember: always check with the dog’s person first to make sure it’s OK to offer a treat.

1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 beef broth
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup non-fat dry milk powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cornmeal

Preheat oven to 300 F. In a large bowl combine cheese, oil and broth. In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients. Gradually stir dry ingredients into cheese mixture. Gather mixture in a ball. On a lightly floured surface and a lightly floured rolling pin, roll out the dough to 1/3 inch. Pat dough together if it cracks. Use a cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Transfer biscuits to ungreased baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Place biscuits on a wire cooling rack. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Makes 1 -2 dozen biscuits depending on the size of the cookie cutter.
