Learning Lessons from Students

          October 12th, 2017

Why don’t kids sit still in class? Why are they bored or acting out? Well, how would you feel if you were sitting in a meeting at your job for hours, unable to move or talk, passively listening to your boss describe something you’re not interested in? A veteran teacher shadowed two students for two days and discovered some valuable lessons for teaching kids.

Having empathy is probably his biggest take-away. Some other things he learned: sitting all day is exhausting, avoid long stretches of talking at students, and treat students with respect, not like a nuisance. He includes some specific activities and ways of working to better engage students and improve their learning experience. Sounds a little like our drama school to us. Click to read the story.
