As our opening night draws nearer and nearer, the excitement is growing for The Taming of the Shrew. We were lucky enough to catch a few moments with teen actor Kane Tone, who spoke to us about his Teen Shakespeare Program experience. Check it out!
So, tell us a bit about yourself!
Well, my name is Kane and I come from Vancouver BC. This is the second year that I’m in TSP and I’ve been having tons of fun letting my acting out in an organized, friend-filled environment.
Tell us about the role you’re playing in The Taming of the Shrew.
I’m playing Player 2, who is playing Tranio, who posing as his master Lucentio. He is a chilled out, but surprisingly smart servant to Lucentio, who disguises himself to win a maid’s love.
What is your favorite thing about Teen Shakespeare?
I’ve got to say, I really enjoy meeting people and making lasting friends while getting my worries out by acting.
What is the most challenging thing about Teen Shakespeare?
The common actor’s lament: memorizing scripts in Old English, and also waiting for the rehearsals to end and the shows to start. Oh! Wait, no. Learning to dance is definitely the most challenging thing this year!
Describe your production of The Taming of the Shrew in 5 words or less.
