There are numerous activates that combine to equal the magic of a Vancouver summer.
For me, the Vancouver summer is not complete until you have experienced three key features. The first is to free yourself from those winter coats and feel the warmth of the long awaited sun. The second is to travel the spectacular seawall, full of breath taking views. The third and most important would be attending Carousel Theatre’s summer Shakespeare production.
Hold the toga because this year’s production is set in the world of the mafia. This summer Carousel Theatre is proud to present Julius Caesar. Already I can tell you that this production will feature a talented and energetic cast! It is an absolute pleasure to return to Carousel and work with these talented teens.
My journey with Carousel Theatre began in 2003, when I was cast in their summer production of Twelfth Night. From that moment on I was hooked. Carousel took me under its wing allowing me to grow and enhance my love of theatre. Since then I have worked on their summer productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream, Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It.
As my prep week comes to an end I can tell you that the office is full of laughter, joy and coffee. Have no fear there is a never ending list of tasks that need to be completed. In fact the large white board has turned into one long to do list, with a few funny drawing on the side.
This year Carousel made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. To the public I am the Production/Stage Manager. To the cast I am the godfather. Working with a fantastic production team or as I like to call them the family, they continually amaze me with their creativity.
Speaking of the production family it’s time to start our meeting…
