Return of the Summer Students!

June 27th, 2011

It’s that time of year again! Every summer we host two fabulous summer students in our offices to work on a very important project- our Teen Shakespeare production! This year we will be bringing Julius Caesar to the stage -Shakespeare’s infamous tragedy, in which ambition and power lead to betrayal and murder.

The two students joining us  this summer are Michael Gunion as Production Stage Manager and Andrea Houssin as Audience Services and Marketing Coordinator. We thought we’d take just a minute of your time to introduce the new members of the Carousel Theatre family.

Michael Gunion

Michael Gunion — Production Stage Manager

Michael is thrilled to be back at Carousel Theatre.

At the age of two, Michael saw his first play Sesame Street The Musical. Though he cried and had to leave the theatre, Michael has become an arts enthusiast. From performing, producing, directing, and marketing, Michael loves creating new and leading forms of entertainment. Over the years, Michael has been privileged to work with such organizations as Marianas Trench, The Vancouver Playhouse, The Jewish Film Festival, The Vancouver Cultural Centre, Touchstone Theatre, Saving Grace Entertainment, Carousel Theatre, Jab Rewind Productions, Pacific Theatre, POV Film Festival, The KULTH Music Festival and Andrew Cohen Productions Ltd.

Recently, Michael was the Associate Producer for UBC LipDub.

Andrea Houssin

Andrea Houssin — Audience Services and Marketing Coordinator

Andrea is so excited to be joining the great team at Carousel for Teen Shakespeare!

Andrea hails from the great plains of Manitoba and is happy to say her strong roots and love of theatre have taken her far. She began her career as a performer, completing her B.A. in Theatre and English at the University of Winnipeg, then flying to London, England to study Shakespeare and Jacobean theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She cut her teeth on the marketing side with Sarasvati Productions and local Fringe troupes in Winnipeg. A year later, she landed in this beautiful province, where she currently studies acting at Studio 58. She is proud to be developing herself as a multi-faceted theatre artist. With her Classical performance, teaching and publicity background, Andrea is over the moon to be joining the Carousel office team and can’t wait to sink her teeth into Julius Caesar.

Stay tuned for more updates on Teen Shakespeare — photos, interviews, and behind the scenes footage of all that goes on at Carousel this summer. Enjoy!
