Audition for the 2020 Teen Shakespeare Program!

Auditions are being held for teens to be part of the next Teen Shakespeare Program!  The play for TSP 2020 is Richard III.

The Teen Shakespeare Program is an immersive, challenging, and supportive training intensive for the next generation of theatre creators. Open to young people aged 13 – 18, participants will work on a Shakespeare play with professional actor, director, and teaching artist Mike Stack. The rehearsal period is full-time and offers the experience of being part of a professional theatre company. The program culminates in a two-week performance run on Granville Island’s Outdoor Stage, attended by members of the public.

Teens will need to bring/prepare:

  • One monologue from Richard III (three monologue options will be sent to you when you book your audition)
  • A headshot, school photo, or similar
  • A résumé that includes any theatre experience or training (including other performing arts, such as music or dance)
  • A cover letter that explains why you are interested in the program, what you hope to get from the program, and which role/s from Richard III interest you and why.


Participants must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates. The schedule for 2020 is as follows:

REHEARSALS: Mon – Fri, June 29 – July 21 (9:30am – 4:30pm)

TECH/DRESS RUNS: July 22 and 23 (10:00am – 10:00pm)

PREVIEW/OPENING: July 24 and 25 (1:00pm – 10:00pm)

PERFORMANCES: Mon – Sat, July 24 – August 8 (call time as of July 27 for performers is 6:30pm – 10:00pm)


The cost of participation is $1,023.75 (including tax). We do have bursaries available – please inquire.
