Volunteers are an integral part of Carousel Theatre for Young People’s family. Each year, volunteers contribute over 1,500 hours to CTYP – and we are so grateful for their assistance and support!
Being a volunteer is an excellent opportunity for high school students and young adults to gain working experience (letters of reference with total hours volunteered may be requested). Volunteer shifts are generally 3-4 hours in length, but may vary depending on the activity.
Carousel Theatre for Young People Volunteer Requirements
- Must be 16 years or older
- Fluent in English
- All prospective volunteers must consent to a free Criminal Record Check to ensure suitability to work in an environment with children
- All prospective volunteers will be required to be interviewed by Carousel staff prior to being scheduled and must attend a training/orientation session
Volunteer Ushers are requested to sign up for a minimum of three usher shifts during the run of a performance. Usher shifts are approximately 3 hours and take place Tuesday to Friday during the day for our school matinee performances, and on weekends for public performances. Times vary.
Administrative Volunteers may assist with light duties, including data entry, mail outs, and occasional craft projects.
Special Events Volunteers provide support in a variety of ways from door greeting, bussing, bartending and more. Carousel hosts a variety of special events throughout the year and are always looking for extra hands.
